Katina Parker is Executive Director for New Orleans: A Labor of Love, a social justice project that recruits volunteers and resources to rebuild the Gulf Coast via the use of social media at www.nolaboroflove.org. Parker also serves as a social media consultant for several technology and innovation projects that target social change via www.katinaparker.com.
Yolanda Turner-Smith is a member of National Society of Black Engineers and a member of the Information Technology Think Tank.
Yolanda is a Mechanical Engineer in the aerospace industry, working for a large international multi-disciplinary company. She is the owner of Turner Enterprises, an IT outsource company that targets small- to medium-sized businesses for networks, desktop support, custom coding, and data security. She is also managing partner of All Praise Media, a full multimedia company offering photography, videography, website development, and brand development services.
Yolanda has a BSME from the University of Notre Dame, and a MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Okiemute Omuta, also know as Kheme, has been a freelance website designer/developer since 2003. He's the owner of the HTML tutorials website www.htmlonline.tk. Kheme has worked in collaboration with individuals and organizations in the design/development of many websites. You can check him out at www.khemeonline.tk.
James Turner is a Partner in All Praise Media, APM, a Multimedia firm that specializes in creating customized solutions for the home, small businesses and organizations. James spent 5 years in the Marine Corps serving duty in Operation Secure Tomorrow in Haiti. He received a Global War on Terrorism Medal for duty in Kuwait, a Navy Unit Commendation, and Certificate of Appreciation. James has 10 years experience in computer/communications diagnostics and repair.
Krys is a writer, web 2.0 evangelist, and a critical thinker for social justice. Originally from New York, she found her way to the west coast as an undergraduate at Occidental College in Los Angeles. In 2007 she earned a B.A. in Urban & Environmental Policy, while also successfully completing a minor in Critical Theory & Social Justice. In 2008 Krys began publishing a blog bLaKtivist.com, where she attempts to disempower harmful and oppressive ideologies for all systematically marginalized or “bLaK” people. Her writing has also been published on AOL.com and Wiretapmag.org.
Brett Rutland lives in Manhattan Beach, California, where he currently works in the visual effects industry. An animator at heart, his past work includes animation, graphic design, illustration, filmmaking, and art direction.
Brett received his MFA in Animation from the University of Southern California and is a native of Lafayette, Louisiana.
