How New Orleans: A Labor of Love Began
PDF Print E-mail
our_mission

It all started with a short documentary and some podcasts. In April 2007, New Orleans: A Labor of Love Founder and Executive Director Katina Parker followed a group of college students during Spring Break while they built homes in New Orleans.

After witnessing Katrina’s devastating impact, Parker saw the potential to combine her background in film, photography, new media, graphic design, public relations, and guerilla marketing to create a web presence that would inspire thousands to act, to give, to rebuild, to organize, to love

Through research, field feedback, and some necessary trial and error, we’ve expanded our vision to form a project that will serve the needs of far more people than we initially envisioned while meeting our collective goal – restoring dignity and hope to those affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
